Saturday at Flowerland (and my favorite jeans + tee!)
One thing I adore about where we live is being able to walk to local spots. I grew up in Oregon and Washington, where sunshine is more of a luxury, which is probably why I’m such a sunshine lover nowadays. We’ve been in California now for about 2.5 years, and I've loved every minute of living in this sunshine.
Every Saturday morning we all throw on clothes and head out for a family walk to get coffee! (And, hopefully it’s the same is for you all - takes like an hour between the potty breaks, clothes tantrums, packing of snacks, searching for shoes, disputes over scooter vs. bike, pumping up of stroller tires, and running back in for wallets and forgotten items). By the time we finally get out I’m reallllllly ready for coffee! These are the days we grind our teeth with frustration but we will surely miss after the littles are grown up. The chaos. The rushing around. The laughs over the fact that Ella pooped in the yard because it seemed convenient to her.
We walk all kinds of fun places, but one of our favorites is Flowerland. It’s a gorgeous, stylish plant nursery with an airstream coffee shop nestled in amongst the plants. The girls love running around, searching for the kitties, while Jeff and I drink yummy coffee!
There is something about Saturdays and your favorite go-to pair of jeans, am-i-right? And wearing comfy shoes usually sounds like a good option too (I’m in flip-flops 90% of the time, shhhh don’t tell). I’ve had these jeans for a couple of years now but they are hands down the perfect fit…low-rise which is perfect for tucking in shirts or wearing a belt, and the best wash ever that does not fade! My shoes are the leather Vans slip-ons from Nordstrom, which I cannot stop wearing because they are so comfy (and gray, my fav color ha!) yet also have a little bit of street style! And lastly - my hands-down favorite t-shirt from Aritzia (a fabulous little Canadian store…if you haven’t shopped there, go now!) which is fitted in all the right places, has a rounded hemline and a polished fabric (making it a bit dressier).
Gosh, I adore these people! We may spend half a morning just trying to get out of the house, then by 1:00 only accomplished a walk and some coffee, but I love these sweet memories and unproductive weekends. I'm trying to remind myself not to rush, not to get frustrated over the kids moving slowly. Soak it in, soak it up! Just like the sunshine.
